Queen's University

Alumni Career Liaison in English Literature

Description

The Department of English at Queen's University is seeking Alumni in diverse occupations to consult with current Queen's English students about the relationship between literary studies and the workforce. To aid current students in attaining fulfilling careers upon graduation, we are looking for Alumni who would be willing to liaise with students over email (and/or potentially over the telephone, skype, or in person) regarding how their degrees prepared them for the work that they do and about best practices for marketing one's skills and expertise on the job market.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Alumni will be asked to fill in a brief biographical form to be included in promotional material by the department that guides current students toward career options relevant to their interests. The form will include the alumni volunteer's name, graduate year, job title, organization/company, a 50-word biographical statement, one or two sentences about their experience of Queen's English, and an image (either of the alumni volunteer or pertaining to the career that individual is engaged with) suitable for inclusion in promotional materials. This information is crucial for alerting prospective and current students of English to the diverse career opportunities available to them with a Queen's degree in English.
